Middlegen 2.1 -> 2.2

We just released a new version of Middlegen. The project has been lying inactive for a while, so we decided to make a release just to get the latest cvs changes out. Check out Middlegen site here: Sourceforge project page: TheServerSide note with comments: We have 2 new developers on the team, so I'm hoping we can get some more activity on the releases. It's not really alot of work needed to make this a really useful tool. Problems I'd like to address in the next release (2.2): - More userfriendly: - Better control of code/bugs: - Improve build process: - Documentation/web site: I have a scenarion that is probably too simple for anyone to think of: running a simple application with database connectivity, but that's it -- no web containers. I have MySQL installed and running with the MySQLConnector/J JDBC connector installed. I am building my project in Eclipse 3.0 and have hibernate installed to simplify the Java object-database persistence and lighten the amount of code I will need to write. I am using the hibernate synchronizer plug-in to allow me, in theory, to stay within the Eclipse environment and not have to go to the command line to run hibernate activities and possibly mess up Eclipse's view of the world. Make sense so far? Well many forums have pointed out some problems with the mapping files generated by the hibernate synchronizer plug-in, and the overall suggestion is to use middlegen to make these files and then use the hibernate synchronizer plug-in to create the POJO classes from them. Seems like a good marriage to me. Only problem is that all the middlegen docs and ant files point to a container. I don't have or neeed one, so how do I proceed from here? When I try to run the exampes it fails because it thinks I am using JBOSS. Do you have to be an ant expert to get this tool running? I am learning ant as fast as I can but that's just another tool to add to the ever-growing list. I've spent the last 2 days trying to save some hibernate time, and I am getting nowhere, FAST. Time is running out. Can someone help me. Please cc me at my email address if you can help because it took me a long time to find this forum and I am afraid I won't be able to find it again. Thanks so much for helping me get started here. --PK --Pierce, October 15, 2004 05:47 PM
