Turns out I was wishing I was on anything Amtrak was running, because at least Amtrak was running...

And: you can use cell phone and internet the whole way, making it a much more productive time. By the time you weigh in checkin time, airport wandering, security crap, and delays, it can really pay off to use Amtrak IMO.
