This years javaZone conference is over. The conference was the biggest one ever with 2500 participants, up from 1400 the year before. I am very impressed with the planning and execution of the conference concidering that is all done with volunteers.

The slides from my presentation "How to create enterprise applications with JSE", which was in norwegian, are available on out site. For those who doesn't speak english, Kjetil Ødegaard did a live blog about my talk. The only nit I have with his post is that he misquoted one bit:

  • Today: Java is the Cobol of the 90's
  • I'm hoping for: Java is the UNIX for the 2000's

What I said was:

  • Today: Java is the Cobol of the 90's

  • I'm hoping for: Java is the UNIX for the 90's

To be honest we have already been operating for a month and a half, but it has just been too much to do to be able to blog about it.

The new company is called Arktekk and we are based in Oslo, Norway. We will be delivering consulting services and the company has a focus on open source-based solutions and agile development techniques. We will also be working as training instructors on subjects like Java, open source and agile development.

We are currently four founders and employees, with no immediate plans to expand but will most likely grow in time.

The current staff is:

  • Kaare Nilsen

  • Kristian Nordal

  • Kristoffer Moum

  • Trygve Laugstøl, CEO

So javaZone is over again and I'm as exhausted as one can be. Just as Vincent, I had a talk about Maven 2, you can find my slides here. It might be fun comparing them to the talk I gave last year on Maven 2 & Continuum. If you have any questions about the content feel free to email me or ask questions on the Maven users list.

As I said in the talk the beta 1 release of Maven 2 is released.
